Student Activities
The DeVry Seattle Associated Student Body (ASB) is a separate non-profit corporation funded, sponsored, and operated by students. Under the supervision of a DeVry University staff advisor the ASB is governed by a President, Vice President, and Executive Secretary-Treasurer. These elected officers, along with appointed officers, communicate student views and suggestions to school administrators and plan and implement student activities.
The ASB income is dervied from a portion of the Student Services fee. Payment of the fee entitles the student to full membership, rights and privileges in the ASB as long as the student is enrolled at DeVry University.
A varied program of student activities is sponsored by the ASB. Student support and inventiveness determine the diversity and number of activities. Through sponsorship, the ASB provides students with the opportunity to participate in activities that are of interest to them. Activities that may be sponsored by the ASB include speakers, trips, sporting events, community service activities, and game nights. Information concerning student activities can be found in the student calendar, bulletin boards, and student newsletter.
The ASB also recognizes and supports student clubs and organizations. Any student may start a student club or organization. There are no overall criteria to be met before participating in activities, i.e., no social status or minimum grade level. However, each group establishes its own eligibility criteria for membership, and must be approved by the ASB before it can function as a recognized student organization.
