The academic support center is where students can go to receive tutoring for their classes. The academic support center offers a variety of learning options for all students. The center provides instruction in academic areas through the following methods:

  • Individual tutoring in a variety of subjects
  • Group tutoring by tutors and faculty members
  • Computer assisted instructions
  • Basic skills information (test taking, time management, study skills, etc.)

The tutors in the ASC are full time students that work as part-time tutors. Each tutor must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and exhibit a strong understanding of course materials.

Often times professors will make themselves available for tutoring students outside of class. During the semester, professors or tutors will offer group tutoring sessions. No appointment is necessary to participate in these sessions.

The ASC Mission
The mission of the ASC is to work in conjunction with a tutor and/or faculty member to provide positive academic support beyond basic classroom instruction for each student. The ASC will accomplish this by:

  • Helping students in all programs meet the standards of their coursework at DeVry
  • Providing students and their tutors a quiet place, conductive to studying and learning
  • Providing tutoring in all areas of coursework when possible
  • Offering resource materials for many class subjects
